My work path within the voluntary sector continued to draw me to work with people who were experiencing issues with chronic and terminal health diagnoses and supporting families around challenging times such as bereavement and loss. I have often found myself to be the person who is there when someone hears of the loss of a loved one, or loss brings itself to the fore during a therapeutic session. Supporting you around life change is my calling.
Although support is often targetted at bereavement and terminal diagnosis, it is really important to acknowledge that we actually experience grief and loss throughout our lives in relation to many life changes and stages. This can often come as a part of our deeper spiritual development, with challenges acting as catalysts for our expansion.
At the start of my career I took a foundation course in counselling to enable me to offer the most effective talking therapies whilst working on telephone helplines and supporting clients with mental health and substance misuse issues in residential rehab and crisis detox projects. More recently I was recruited by a local charity to set up a free volunteer led support service for those experiencing issues with bereavement and end of life. I built a team; recruiting and training banks of highly skilled volunteers, who gave thousands of hours of essential free of charge support. I brought in additional funding for the charity to further develop this service before I left to return to see my own clients and trainees at our therapy centre.
I also have a Diploma in End of Life care which enables me to understand the complex range of circumstances you might be experiencing at this very sensitive time. If you are reading this now it is likely that some of these issues resonate with you. Whether you are looking for support in the form of talking therapy, healing for the impact of grief, or guidance with finding your spiritual compass in relation to it all, I can assist.
